The Guardian Angel Hospice interdisciplinary team prides itself on providing the highest possible level of care to all our patients and their families. The members of the team are truly Guardian Angels to us, this community, and to every single patient and family member that we encounter. The majority of the Guardian Angel team has been with us since we began providing hospice care in 2003.
Allene McCann, RN, MN - Director of Clinical Services
I have been a hospice nurse for 23 years. I graduated from LSU Medical Center with a Masters in nursing with a specialty in gerontology; I find great fulfillment in helping patients and their families with achieving comfort, dignity, and quality of life. I am the Patient Care Manager and one of the owners of Guardian Angel Hospice. By focusing on emotional and spiritual support, as well as physical comfort, we can provide comprehensive care to our patients.
Tracey McCann, LCSW - General Manager
I graduated from Tulane University with a Masters in Social Work. I began my work with hospice as a volunteer close to 30 years ago. I have always had the desire to provide support to hospice patients and families and chose to pursue my Masters in order to do so professionally. It is such a privilege to be able to be of service to people.
Dr. Stephen Kantrow, MD
I am a board certified specialist in hospice and palliative care medicine, pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine. I teach and practice medicine at LSU Health Sciences Center and Ochsner Health System, where I also direct the fellowship training program in pulmonary and critical care medicine. I have made home visits to patients for over 25 years, and appreciates the opportunity to make home visits for our hospice patients and their families.
Orange Hopkins, RN - Case Manager
I have been a hospice nurse at Guardian Angel Hospice for 16 years. I graduated from West Virginia Institute of Technology. I have a strong work ethic, and with my co-workers, I am able to make a difference in families lives. That is why I work in hospice.
Angie Trobaugh, RN - Case Manager
I graduated from LSU School of Nursing. I have been a nurse for over 25 years, working with hospice patients and their families for over 15 years. I feel that hospice nursing is my true calling, and I can’t imagine doing anything else.
Maria Ruiz, RN - Case Manager
I graduated from Our Lady of Holy Cross University with my Bachelors degree in Nursing. I’ve been a nurse for 10 years and love working in the hospice field. I love being able to get to know my patients and their families, and being there for them during such a difficult time. I love being able to deliver compassionate care and being a resource for my patients and their families.
Susan Dowling, MS, RN - Case Manager
In 1986 I graduated with a Master’s Degree in Counseling Education from the University of Tennessee. I returned to school to pursue my dream of becoming a registered nurse and graduated from Walter’s State College in 2002. I have twenty years of experience in nursing and case management. I believe that my experience in counseling and nursing has enhanced my ability to work with hospice patients and their families. I am blessed to be a part of this hospice team and my goal is to give each individual I work with, compassionate care.
Neaobbie Thomas, RN - Case Manager
I graduated from Charity School of Nursing. I have been a nurse for 15 years. I have worked in many other areas of nursing, but hospice is the one area that allows the true virtues of the spirit of both nurse and patient to shine through.
Suzette Lawrence Reynolds, LMSW - Social Worker
I’m a graduate of Tulane School of Social Work with a certification in Gerontology. I’ve been a social worker for over 25 years and have enjoyed working with families across the spectrum. I’ve embraced my assignment as a hospice social worker, and look forward to assisting families coordinate end of life care.
Stephen Daigle - Chaplain; Community Liaison
I’m born and raised in New Orleans and a graduate of Tulane University. I’ve been a pastor for 19 years here in New Orleans. Being able to minister to those who need hope the most is a passion of mine. Im grateful for the opportunity to comfort those who need it the most.
JC McCann - Community Liaison, Chaplain
I graduated from Loyola University in business marketing and attended NOBTS for seminary. I currently serve as the chaplain and community educator at Guardian Angel Hospice. My optimism and encouraging spirit help me work with our community to improve our patient’s quality of life. I have been with the company since 2014, and I enjoy this work, because we are able to be there for people during one of their hardest times of their life.
Natalie Prater, CNA - Home Health Aide Supervisor
I have been working as a registered CNA at Guardian Angel Hospice since the company began in 2003. It is a privilege to provide hands-on care to my patients, and to support and educate our families so that they may better care for their loved ones. My hope is to lighten every visit with my sense of humor and optimism.

I employ a strong work ethic and knowledge of hospice to ensure our office runs smoothly, and I bring a positive attitude and optimism to my work in the field with patients and families.
